Hi! My name is Marcia (please call me Marcy) Aichel and I am the owner of 3R Massage Therapy in Gray, TN. Most of my adult career has been spent working in Transportation for a large appliance manufacturer. After receiving my first massage at the tender age of 40-something, I knew that was what I wanted to do. Over the next several years when I expressed this interest to friends, family, and my significant other, my idea was often dismissed as silly or unrealistic. After an unexpected break-up with the significant other and a full year of mourning, I finally decided (or rather I was told by a very wise and wonderful friend) that it was time for me to get back out there and see what the world had waiting for me. She was right, of course, and as a result I met a wonderful man. The very first time I expressed my interest in "becoming a massage therapist and helping little old ladies with fibromyalgia" his response was "You should do it. I think you would be good." And that my friends is how this Massage Therapist was born!
In 2010 I began studying at Reflections of Health School of Massage in Johnson City, TN every weekend for 6 months. At the end of the year, I successfully completed my state board and received my Massage Licensure February 1, 2011. Since that time I have found - more often than not - that opportunities tend to present themselves to me rather than finding myself looking for opportunities that never happen. I can only surmise that this is true because I now am following my heart and living the dream!!
I even love doing continuing education classes! Since 2011, I have obtained a Level 1 Aromatherapy Certification as well as a Certification for Oncology Massage and received training in other modalities such as Deep Tissue Massage, Pregnancy Massage, and Energy Techniques. Cupping is next on the agenda and I will receive that training in 2017.
Since February 1, 2011, I find myself surrounded by supportive, talented and loving people who have a passion for helping others. Becoming a Massage Therapist is by far one of the best decisions I have ever made!!
